Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Auckland Greyhounds Bobby (left) and Ginger were two of several greyhounds who joined in the Take Your Dog to Work Day.

Taking a well behaved pet to work has been shown to reduce stress levels and increase productivity. So not only is bringing your best friend to work fun for both you and your dog, it's also good for your employer too!

International Day of the Dog is huge success
Greyhound lovers throughout the country came together on 26 April to celebrate their dogs. The walks attracted the attention of several newspapers which helped spread the word about our adorable hounds and their search for homes.

Wellington owners met up at the Botanic Gardens to celebrate despite the rain. (May 09)

Pub Charity sponsors one kennel at the Sanson base for a year.

GAP staff are delighted as the kennels are getting busier than ever. Thanks
Pub Charity for caring about our hounds!  (April 09)

Over 300 Greyhounds have found a new life as a pet

Since the launch of the GAP programme in March 2006 over 300 Greyhounds have hung up their racing vests and retired to the life of a couch potato.

Mickey (pictured right) is the 316th dog to find a loving home after racing. Mickey went to his new home in Dunedin at the end of March, exactly 3 years after GAP's launch.

GAP Launch!

Greyhounds As Pets was officially launched by the Rt. Hon. Winston Peters on 29 March 2006.

Thank you to all those who are supporting the programme. We've had a great response so far from both trainers entering greyhounds in the programme and helping move our dogs to their new homes and from people wishing to adopt them. A big thank you to those people who have offered to foster our greyhounds and also those who've helped us at promotions!

Rosie - Our very first Greyhound adopted

Rosie is the first greyhound to be adopted through the programme. She has gone to live with Christine and Steve in the Wairarapa where she is enjoying chasing bumble bees around their garden with her new buddy 'Tiny' - a large German Shepherd X Retriever!
